Gift Aid

Malvern Community Forest is recognised by HMRC as a charitable organisation.

Use Gift Aid to make your membership fees and donations to Malvern Community Forest worth more. For every £1 you give we get an extra 28p from Inland Revenue.

To qualify for the scheme you must pay an amount of UK income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount we reclaim for that tax year (currently 25p for each £1 given).

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government tax relief scheme that allows UK charities to increase the value of an individual’s donation by claiming back from Inland Revenue the basic rate tax paid by the donor.

Do I qualify for the Gift Aid scheme?
You qualify if you are a UK taxpayer, and pay income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount we reclaim for that same tax year.

How do I take advantage of Gift Aid?
You can give us your permission to claim Gift Aid on your donations by filling in the Gift Aid Declaration.

Do I need to do anything else?
Please remember to inform us if you change your name or address, or if your tax status changes. Otherwise, there is no need to do anything else providing you continue to qualify each year.

What is the benefit to Malvern Community Forest?
The amount of tax we can actually claim at present is 28% of your donation. This is because up until 5th April 2011 the government is paying an additional 3% in transitional relief. (NB: this transitional relief does not affect your tax position.)

And finally …….
If you are a higher rate taxpayer you can claim back the difference between the basic rate that we claim and the amount of tax that you have actually paid.

If you would like to talk to us in more detail about a possible donation or can offer any other help please e-mail our Chairman at pahoppy@btinternet.com
