Malvern Community Forest

A FOREST FOR ALL

Mission Statement:

"Malvern Community Forest's mission is to establish and maintain a woodland and centre for the educational, health and environmental benefit of the local and wider community, providing ecological and craft knowledge, recreational places and areas for the conservation of indigenous flora and fauna, including threatened, rare and endangered species.

Appeal

Through the kind generosity of a number of people Malvern Community Forest (MCF) has now had donations and income of over £3700 this year. However, although we are recognised as a charitable organisation by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC, the tax office) the Charity Commission have a policy of only allowing groups who have received income of £5000 in any year to apply to become a registered charity.

The committee of MCF have, as required, adopted a Constitution based on the Charity Commission template. We have everything in place ready to register as a charity, which will give us access to very large grants enabling us to purchase local land. But we still need to find at least £1300 to enable us to meet the Charity Commission criteria.

We are now launching an appeal to raise the last £1300 by the end of May this year. We only need 13 people or organisations to donate £100, 3 to donate £500, or 130 to donate £10. Please contact us If you can help in any way.

You could also help us by encouraging your family and friends to become members.

A membership and donation form can be downloaded from the donations page.

Thanks for your help and support.

Gift Aid

Malvern Community Forest is recognised by HMRC as a charitable organisation.

Use Gift Aid to make your membership fees and donations to Malvern Community Forest worth more. For every £1 you give we get an extra 28p from Inland Revenue.

Planting schemes

This Community Woodland will be planted with Oak, Ash, Sweet chestnut and Hazel. It will have long term sustainability and strategic benefit, creating a massive natural resource for construction timber, furniture and garden products, and a managed source of bio-fuels for local people. Other areas will have wide rides and glades with less productive species that have greater wildlife value such as Spindle, Wild service tree, Holly, Field maple and Dogwood. There will also be a community orchard, and areas planted with trees and shrubs that produce nuts and berries for use as a future food source.
